THE ORIENTATION FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH OF FACULTY OF LAW

The strategic orientation for scientific research: Faculty of Law will become a well-known center of scientific research and legal science advisory, of studying and exchanging legal ideas not only in UEL and VNU-HCM but also in the South of Vietnam and the whole country. In fact, the scientific research at Faculty of Law is linked with training, practice, and providing legal services. For example, the basic research and practical research associate with providing legal advice for municipal governments, organizations, agencies, enterprises, and residential community. Furthermore, Faculty of Law actively participates in searching solution for improving judicial activities, completing civil law as well as laws of finance, of banking, of State administration and management.

 

Measures of promoting scientific research include:

 

- Encouraging lecturers to participate in scientific research and publish textbooks, which are considered as the most important tasks of lecturers and a basic criteria to evaluate lecturers’ performance. Recommending UEL’s Board of Governors establishing a policy of exchanging scientific research to credit hours and an appropriated scheme of reward and discipline for research activities. By 2020, over 50% of Faculty’s lecturers will have scientific researches published each year, including: articles in scientific journal, articles in national and international conferences’ proceedings, and scientific projects of different levels. Also, at least 30% subjects will have textbooks, lesson books authored by lecturers of Faculty of Law.

 

- Promoting legal basic and legal application research: based on the strategic direction, the Faculty also cooperates with other departments in UEL, others university members of VNU-HCM, and research institutes,… in research activities which will associate with practice, especially research on demands of enterprises, orders from local agencies.

 

- Expanding international relationship in order to exchange experiences and information of scientific research and textbook publishing. Collaborating with some well-known universities, especially universities having legal training in ASEAN to find solutions for relating issues, such as: ASEAN organization and operation activities, trans-nations crime, money laundering, and synchronizing legal systems of ASEAN countries intrading goods and services, finance and banking, environment, taxation, freedom in navigation... Besides, Faculty of Law will promote cooperating with reputable professors in law from different universities to write and publish textbooks in accordance with international standards.   

 

- Regularly organizing scientific seminars as well as scientific conferences, at regional level and also international level, which will attract many national and international scientists and professors in law. This will be an opportunity for lecturers and students of Faculty of Law to exchange theoretical and practical legal issues in region and in the world.   

 

- Each year, the Faculty will organize at least one scientific seminar at university level; also, each of our departments will organize one legal science talk show and two legal discussions.

 

- Encouraging students to do scientific research with lecturers’ guidance. Every year, we try to have at least 15 students’ science topics accepted which will be graded with rank B and above.

 

- Associating undergraduate training and post-graduate training with scientific research through encouraging students to do scientific research by different manners, including making participation of students compulsory in lecturers’ scientific research.
