LEGAL TALK 16 - TRUST LAW

 

Within the framework of academic activities of Vietnamese Law School Network, the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City - the present Head of The Executive Board of the Network organized the Seminar on Trust Law. The key-note speaker of the Seminar was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien, former Vice Rector of the University of Economics and Law.

The seminar attracted the interest of more than 250 delegates from members of the Network and other institutions, including: Dr. Mai Van Thang (Head of Office of Scientific Management and Development Cooperation), Dr. Nguyen Bich Thao (Head of Civil Law Department, School of Law, Vietnam National University Ha Noi), Dr. Vu The Hoai (Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, Saigon University), Assoc. Prof. PhD. Le Thi Chau (former Dean of the Faculty of Law, Vietnam Trade Union University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Huu Nghi (Institute of State and Law), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ngo Huy Cuong (School of Law, Vietnam National University Ha Noi), and several doctoral, graduate and undergraduate students of the Faculty of Law of Vietnam National University Ha Noi, Hanoi Law University, Can Tho University, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Van Lang University, Thai Nguyen University of Economics and Business Administration…

Towards the University of Economics and Law, there was the attendance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Vu Nam - Vice Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung - Dean of the Faculty of Law, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Thi Phuong Diep, Head of Inspection - Legal Department, Dr. Le Nguyen Gia Thien - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law, lecturers of the Faculty of Law, Faculty of Economic Law and Faculty of Economics, and doctoral, graduate and undergraduate students.

In the first part of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien focused on analyzing 3 important features: i) theory of trusts, ii) experience of common law countries on trusts and iii) legal property relations in the legal context of Vietnam.

 



In the second part of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dien answered questions and had exchanges of views with delegates about the following contents: i) should “trust” be considered as action in rem or action in personam?, ii) theory of patrimony?, iii) investment trust?, iv) trusts and usufruct rights?

The seminar was successful as it provided qualified quantities of knowledge for the delegates about trust Law in particular and property Law in general./.
